CGC Adeniyi Hosts Beach Volleyball Players, Celebrates Historic Gold Medal, Olympic Qualification
The Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service ,NCS, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, PhD, has hosted Nigeria’s beach volleyball players, Esther Mbah and Pamela Bawa, in celebration of their historic gold-medal triumph and qualification for the Olympic Games.
The occasion provided an opportunity for the Customs helmsman to commend the athletes for their remarkable feat, which he described as a demonstration of courage, resilience, discipline and the indomitable Nigerian spirit.

Speaking on NTA News, today, Tuesday, 25 August, 2026, CGC Adeniyi expressed profound delight at the duo’s achievement, noting that their success had brought honour not only to themselves but also to the nation.
The Customs Chief particularly acknowledged the magnitude of their victory over Morocco, an Arab nation with considerable pedigree and a strong competitive presence in volleyball.
The exact words of CGC Adeniyi, “To defeat an Arab country, Morocco, that has a very good pitch in volleyball is not an easy task“.
The CGC gave such commendation, underscoring the quality of opposition the Nigerian players overcame on their way to the coveted gold medal.
His remarks reflected both the technical appreciation of sporting excellence and the genuine enthusiasm of a leader who understands that national achievement extends beyond conventional economic indices to include accomplishments that inspire pride, unity and international recognition.

Adeniyi’s gesture also shows his broader support for national development, which transcends traditional responsibilities of the Customs Service in revenue generation, trade facilitation, border security and economic regulation.
Under his leadership, emphasis has increasingly been placed on initiatives that contribute to the human and social dimensions of development, including corporate social responsibility, youth empowerment, institutional partnerships and support for activities capable of projecting Nigeria positively before the international community.
By celebrating the athletes and pledging institutional support, he has demonstrated that investing in talent and human capital is equally fundamental to building a prosperous, confident and globally competitive Nigeria.
Significantly, the CGC also assured the athletes of continued support as they progress towards the ultimate stage of their international campaign. “We will give you all the support to the finishing line,” he declared, while urging them to “use the same hunger for success to move higher.”
He further pledged that the necessary support would be provided to enable them attain greater heights. The commitment reveals a sportsmanlike disposition characterised by appreciation of excellence, encouragement of competitors and recognition of the values that sport shares with effective leadership teamwork, discipline, perseverance, fair play, strategic thinking and an unwavering determination to succeed.
For CGC Adeniyi, therefore, the celebration of Esther Mbah and Pamela Bawa represents more than a ceremonial reception; it is an affirmation of his conviction that national development must be pursued holistically.
While his principal mandates remain strengthening customs administration, facilitating legitimate trade and generating revenue for government, his support for sporting excellence and socially impactful initiatives demonstrates an expansive understanding of public leadership.
By identifying with the aspirations of young Nigerian athletes and committing support to their journey, Adeniyi is reinforcing the message that every sphere of national endeavour, whether commerce, sport, enterprise, social responsibility or human capital development has a vital role to play in advancing economic prosperity, and international standing for the Nigerian nation.
